OUR VISION
The San Antonio Children’s Museum is a unique and innovative educational resource dedicated to those we serve. Through interactive play, we inspire a journey of life-long learning, ultimately enriching lives and positively impacting the San Antonio community and beyond.
OUR MISSION
The San Antonio Children’s Museum provides engaging hands-on experiences where children and the adults in their lives actively learn through creative play.
A Brief History
In 1993, San Antonio was the only top ten city without a hands-on, interactive museum specifically designed for children. At that time, many diverse groups began working together to make a children's museum in San Antonio a reality. Since opening its doors in September of 1995, more than one million visitors have explored the over 80 educationally and culturally based exhibits.
Outreach
The Learn & Play Pass was founded in 1996 to ensure that all children in our community would be able to experience the Children's Museum. This fund provides free and subsidized admissions to economically challenged families and school and day care groups. It is a policy of the children's museum that no one be denied admission for economic reasons. This fund is supported by foundations, corporations, organizations and individuals that recognize the fact that many of the underprivileged children in our area are not given the opportunity to take advantage of the educational and cultural resources available in our city. The Children's Museum allows children from diverse backgrounds to stretch their minds, bodies and imaginations in a safe environment. We hope to motivate children to reach beyond their circumstances.
